Peak Energy Alert notifications let members know when electricity use is at its highest. By conserving energy during these times, cooperative members help manage power supply, reduce wholesale energy costs, and support reliable service for the community.
People's Energy Cooperative has issued a peak energy alert beginning today at 7:00 a.m. Cooperative members are urged to reduce usage as they are able.
Members enrolled in energy management can expect the following:
C&I Generators (5A) See Industrial Load Control Below | Not affected |
C&I Manual Generators - Controllable Seasonal Rate (5B) See Industrial Load Control Below | Not affected |
Water Heaters - Small (1A) See Residential Load Control Below | Not affected |
Dual Fuel / AC Cycling See Residential Load Control Below | 7:00 - 11:00 a.m. |
Water Heaters - Large (1B) See Residential Load Control Below | Not affected |
Members can conserve electricity during this peak alert period by setting their heating systems to at least 68 degrees, cooler if no one is home; running the dishwasher or doing laundry later in the day; using a microwave instead of the oven to cook; postponing charging electric vehicles until later; and refraining from turning on televisions or gaming systems. Each seemingly small action can collectively make a big difference in the demand made on the electric grid.
