To adapt to the electric needs of the future, MISO is transforming how it plans for and manages this complex system.

MISO Long Range Transmission Planning

The Gopher to Badger Link is a transmission project being proposed for Southeast Minnesota and is part of MISO's long-range transmission planning in Tranche 2.1. Xcel Energy is developing the portion spanning from the North Rochester Substation near Pine Island to Marion. Dairyland Power Cooperative is developing the portion spanning from Marion to Bell Center, Wisconsin, named MariBell Transmission Project. For more details, click on the links below:

PowerOn Midwest is a series of transmission projects that is also part of MISO's long-range transmission planning in Tranche 2.1. Being developed by Great River Energy, ITC Midwest, Otter Tail Power Company, and Xcel Energy, these projects will span from eastern South Dakota through southeast Minnesota.
