MEMBER AGREEMENT

OUTAGE REPORTING VIA TEXT MESSAGING

The undersigned ("Member ") agrees to the following terms and conditions for use of the outage reporting via text messaging service offered by People’s Energy Cooperative ("Cooperative").

  1. This Agreement amends and supplements any pre-existing agreement between Member and Cooperative.
  2. Member may report service outages to Cooperative by text message to 55050. 
  3. Member understands and agrees these text messages are processed automatically, and are not read by a person.  Member shall report any life threatening emergency by calling 911. 
  4. Member understands each outage report sent via text messaging will result in a minimum of three (3) individual text messages.  Member’s cell phone plan’s standard text messaging and data rates apply and Member is responsible for all related charges.
  5. Member agrees any other information related to the outage that would be important for Cooperative to be aware of shall be called into Cooperative at (507) 367-7000 or (800) 214-2694.
  6. Member shall be responsible for any and all expenses and costs incurred by Cooperative (including the cost of dispatching utility personnel) as a result of a false report of a service outage and shall pay within 30 days of invoice by Cooperative.
  7. Member agrees that by outage reporting via text message, Member is also agreeing to future text based communication between Cooperative and Member, whether or not it is outage related.
